How we look after your family's information — written plainly, because we would want the same

Who We Are

  • Once Upon Today is a small family-run service that turns your child's day into gentle bedtime stories
  • You can reach us anytime at stories@onceupontoday.co.uk

Parent Accounts

  • When you create an account we store your email address and a securely scrambled password so you can sign in
  • We use your email only to run your account: sign-in links, invites, receipts and messages you ask for
  • We never sell your details or share them with advertisers

Your Child's Information

  • To personalise stories you may tell us a child's first name, birthday, favourite animal and feelings from their day
  • This information is used only to write and unlock your family's stories and to show reading progress to your family
  • Children never sign in themselves — accounts belong to parents, and child profiles are only ever shown to the family that created them
  • You can delete a child profile at any time from Our Family, which removes their details and progress

Reading Progress

  • We record which stories each family member opens and finishes so Our Progress can show who is caught up
  • Progress is visible only to members of your own family

The Shop and Payments

  • When you buy a story upgrade or a plan, payment is handled securely by our payment provider — we never see or store your card number
  • We keep a record of what you bought and the email you used so your purchases stay unlocked and we can help if something goes wrong

Voice Recordings

  • If you record your own voice for narration, the recording is stored privately and used only to read your family's stories aloud
  • You can delete a saved voice at any time from My Voices

Sending Stories by Email

  • If you use Send Story, we email the story links to the address you choose
  • We use that address only to deliver the story — it is not added to any mailing list
  • Emailed links only open for members of your own family

Reflection Journal

  • Notes you write in the Reflection Journal are private to you — other family members cannot see them
  • You can delete any journal entry at any time

Visitors and Analytics

  • When someone visits the site, we note the page they arrived on and the site that sent them (for example a directory listing), so we can see what is working
  • We also see the country a visit comes from, because Once Upon Today is currently open to families in the United Kingdom only
  • Visitors who join the waitlist from outside the UK give us their email address so we can tell them when the service opens to them
  • We do not use advertising trackers or sell visit information to anyone

Gift Codes

  • If you redeem a gift code, we record that the code was used so it cannot be used twice
  • No payment details are ever taken for a gift

Your Rights

  • You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the information we hold about your family
  • Email stories@onceupontoday.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days
